Brothers and sisters, this idea of Bapak's is not new, but one Bapak has had ready for a long time and first spoke of at Congress eight years ago. As Bapak said, it is very important and necessary for Subud to have a bank in connection with the enterprises of Subud members.
At the same time Bapak suggested ( and this has been done ) that a list of experts in every field should be drawn up, so that the money laid out and invested in the companies organized by members from various countries can be employed really usefully. Experts are registered not just from one country but from all the countries with Subud groups or members.
Thus if the bank prospers, a branch may well be set up in Switzerland, for example; so too in the developing countries and in countries such as Indonesia, which possess very great resources to be tapped. If one counts them up, there are perhaps hundreds of possibilities here in Indonesia for running enterprises of Subud members. So the establishment of a branch of the bank here in Indonesia is greatly needed. The point of what Bapak has just said is that Subud will really be able to supply capital to members who run enterprises.
A branch is much needed here in Indonesia to make it easy to arrange financing. Without a branch here, that would certainly be difficult, because there would have to be correspondence every time, and someone would have to go to Wolfsburg in Germany to ask for money, or it would have to be done through the intermediary of another bank.
Similarly for the Subud members in Africa, in Nigeria, the Congo and elsewhere. Many sources exist there, un-worked so far, of things that can be produced, and the experts registered by ISC or STS are also needed.
Obviously, then, when money is sent to provide capital for some undertaking, the requisite experts should be sent too, if as yet none are available on the spot. This is needed in order that the undertaking being set up there can really be carried through and be really beneficial.
Why Bapak considers it important and necessary to put this idea into effect is in order that Subud can really have some evidence to show to the public. You should not just have ideas that never come to anything, are never carried out. So now the ideas in Subud will really be carried out properly and to good effect.
Thereby the name of Subud will be not just barely known, as at present, but known everywhere, automatically attracting public attention throughout the world. Bapak therefore asks you to be really energetic.
Edward van Hien has just said one must work with a real feeling of sincerity and not be influenced by the nafsu. Yes, indeed, that is so on the spiritual path, but in worldly matters we must use these nafsu. So unless you have a firm intention to set up this bank and to make it strong, it will not come about.
As Bapak said recently, God will not change anyone's destiny unless that person desires to change it. Thus, so long as you do not wish for a change in your destiny, God will not give it to you, God will not change it. The power and justice of God are like that.
God will not help anyone at all unless that person wants and is willing to be helped. So don't let this help go to waste. Bapak therefore asks you all to make this bank as strong as you can. For the strength of the bank represents the strength of the Spiritual Brotherhood of Subud. If the bank is weak, it means you are weak, materially as well as morally, physically as well as spiritually. Bapak asks you to have faith in yourselves and in the bank you yourselves set up.
In the Spiritual Brotherhood of Subud, therefore, we should have faith in one another, respect one another, be honest in all things. We should remember that to injure another member is to injure oneself. If we value other members, we value ourselves.
This is like a compass or criterion for us who have received the latihan kedjiwaan of Subud, which is guidance and direction from the One God.
Bapak need not make his explanation any longer; it is long enough if you accept it as your guide and an indication of the lines on which to work.
And now Bapak will speak about a name.
Edward van Hien said just now that the name will also exert a certain degree of influence. If the bank is given an English name it may not sound pleasing to some - though not all - of the Germans. If given a German name, it may not sound pleasing to English or French people or others maybe.
Because of what has happened already, people of all races like the name Susila Budhi Dharma. That, of course, is an Indonesian name originating from Bapak. Bapak therefore proposes using an Indonesian name - the Dharma Bank of Subud Ltd.
If people ask whether this name is German, or English or French, the answer is no, it comes from Bapak. How is that, brothers and sisters ? Do you find that name acceptable ? So, like Susila Budhi Dharma, it is a name that includes everyone. The Dharma Bank of Subud Ltd., then - not Company but Limited.

Brothers and sisters, Bapak has just been told that the name Subud is registered in various countries as that of a social body. So misunderstandings could arise if it were used by the bank. Bapak will therefore change the name, and it will not be the Dharma Bank of Subud. Bapak now changes it to a very good name: Sinar Kencana Mulia Bank, or Bank of Sinar Kencana Mulia. Sinar means light, which surrounds it. Kencana means gold. Thus a light like gold envelops it, requiring it to be noble, requiring it to be great. That is the meaning of the Sinar Kencana Mulia Bank.
