Brothers and Sisters, Bapak has heard the explanation and the report of the Chairman of the committee of the Subud Group here in Wendhausen concerning the state of the Subud members both here and throughout Germany, and Bapak has understood everything that has been explained. Brothers and Sisters, Bapak prays without ceasing that Almighty God Should give His blessing to and always protect His creatures who truly worship Him. Such is Bapak's prayer for all of you, Whom Bapak has brought face to face with the greatness of Almighty God.

Brothers and Sisters, indeed the life-journey of a human being goes through phases which can be likened to the weather. -Sometimes it rains and at other times it is clear, sometimes there is bad weather, sometimes the weather is good and refreshing.

Such a symbol is truly in line with the way of life of man, for man is not God. Man lives by means of everything that exists in this world: for as long as man lives in this world he will not be able to free himself from the influence, the atmosphere and the situation which affects his being or his life. This is quite unlike Almighty God Who is not affected by anything. He lives eternally and truly never changes.

Brothers and Sisters, since the weather is like a symbol of man's life in this world, what you have experienced should not be surprising, or disappointing. Indeed it is like that.

Therefore it is very necessary that in performing your worship of God you should not feel disappointment, for even though your worship is guided and directed by the Power of God, the experience you have had is a normal occurrence for the life of human beings.

Brothers and Sisters, following the evidence which exists in the latihan kejiwaan of Subud, we cannot avoid drawing the conclusion that you are all still required to make an effort, still required to exert yourself when faced with a situation such as the one you are facing now.

It is true that you have been able to achieve a situation that can be called reasonable. In other words you have a house and you can provide a place for brothers and sisters who wish to follow the path of the latihan kejiwaan of Subud; and this house is quite large enough for that. But although Bapak said that your situation here can be called reasonably satisfactory, it does not yet really fulfill that which Bapak hopes for you all.

The hope, Brothers and Sisters, may not be what normal people consider the most "practical" or "advantageous," but Bapak hopes that in your life you do not need to depend on anyone whosoever it may be.

For example, this house: Although you are here, although you are alright here, you are still dependent on somebody, or some institution, so that if that somebody or institution decides that they no longer want this house to be occupied by you, then you will of course have to find another place. And looking for another place will of course be a lot of trouble, even more so later on, when you have more members, and your needs are even more than now.

So if you want to fulfill Bapak's hope for the lives of all of you here, then Bapak hopes that you will really make enterprises.

Brothers and Sisters, the enterprises that are required by the jiwa of each of you are not small enterprises but large ones. Are you really capable of setting up and running large enterprises? Are you really able to do that, when one can say that you are on a level that is not so high or so strong, materially speaking?

If we weigh it up in this way then certainly it seems impossible. But if you remember that with the latihan kejiwaan of Subud you have been put in contact with the Power of the Almighty, whom we call Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, the One who rules the whole world, the whole universe with all it contains to the extent that you can feel and be convinced of the closeness of Almighty God, then why is it not possible for you to set up something that is beyond the ordinary?

The example for this is Bapak himself. The project Bapak is organizing in Kalimantan will require, if we work it out in the way an accountant works it out, capital or money amounting to at least a thousand million dollars. Where will Bapak find that money? If you calculate it, it is impossible for Bapak to do it.

Then why is Bapak doing this? Because he has received the order from Almighty God.

Subud will not become great and strong if its members are not truly Subud-minded and don't truly worship Almighty God. You should not distinguish between yourself and Subud: you, Subud and God, are one.

That is what is called trinity. I, all of you human beings; Subud, the effort or action; God, the Almighty.

If you, in all your actions, are not separated from the Will of God, in the form in which it acts in the latihan kejiwaan, it is not impossible that ail of you will be able to build a house that is 10 or 100 times this house you have here.

This has become reality in a small way in what Bapak has already created in Jakarta. In fact, previously members from here and from England said to Bapak, "Is it possible Bapak to prepare something like what Bapak is talking about?"

"Yes, God is Almighty and All-Powerful. What is the point of worshipping God if He does not love us? And if God loves man then He will provide everything that man needs."

This is something of which Bapak has really convinced himself and Bapak has truly understood how it works. In Kalimantan, for example, everywhere there is gold, in the rivers which flow there is gold, silver, copper and diamonds and precious stones. It is everywhere. So it's clear, Brothers and Sisters, God provides for all the needs of man, it only depends on man as to how he works and acts.

So, don't be fearful. God is Almighty and All-Great. If we are truly convinced of this, then it is from there, from the latihan kejiwaan, that we will find something that we can use, a way that we can follow, so that eventually we can become people who have a value in this world.

So Bapak's prayer for all of you is: Do not ever cease to think of enterprises. We are already beginning to pioneer the way in this direction. We are beginning to discern the way by which we have to go: the way to happiness for all Subud members who have received the gift of God Almighty through the latihan kejiwaan of Subud.

There it is, Brothers and Sisters. Bapak's words are said to set on fire your inner feeling. And by this is meant not to light a fire and create an atmosphere which is disturbing, but to set on fire your enthusiasm to struggle, to build, to develop your nation and to build up our brotherhood through the worship of Almighty God.

Brothers and Sisters, if, in Java, which is normally considered a place that is backward, Bapak can build a place for the worship of God, and here you are in a country which is already developed, whose progress is already evident, why then can't you do it?

Bapak doesn't mean you should force yourself to be able to do it, but rather, worship Almighty God, so that God Almighty may give you the strength and guide you to find the way to build Subud in the best possible way.

To develop Subud, Bapak does not need to make propaganda for it, explaining to people how good Subud is. Brothers and Sisters, we should more or lees be able to demonstrate that by means of our worship we can build. It is this which will make people stare and will make people surprised; "How can you people build these things, from where do you get the money?." "From God."

This is what will attract the people. For, in general, society, and not only society but all of you, cannot progress if there is no money or material wealth.

But it is different for people outside of Subud compared with you.

When other people pursue this world and achieve their aim, they then behave as they like. One can say they are capable of anything, capable of oppressing others who are weak.

But you Subud members are not like that. The richer you are, and the better you inner feelings, the more you feel love towards your fellow human beings, the more compassionate you are. You have to express this compassion so that society can draw a conclusion from our actions, from the fact that we use our funds to help others through charitable undertakings for the benefit of mankind.

Such action is expressed nowadays by the words "social democracy." But don't forget that social democracy should not be only on one's lips, but must be put into practice. Such is God.

This is what Bapak says to all of you so that you should never cease to make efforts, so that your hands are never manacled by a situation where your lives depend on other people.

This is why Bapak prevents Subud members from doing the latihan kejiwaan only for the purpose of healing sick people in return for payment - that's not how it is supposed to be. Our receiving from Almighty God is not for the purpose of healing others so that we then get money from them. No. It is to remind human beings too that they truly confess the existence of God and practice His worship in accordance with their respective religions.

The enterprises Bapak is constantly pushing are not for pursuing wealth and money, but for organizing our own selves. If we look at it from a normal point of view, things are quite all right, but if we really feel, but if we consider that we have been approached by the Power of Almighty God, why in our lives do we still let ourselves depend on others?

Bapak does not belittle your efforts and the fact that you have achieved what you have, but this is not yet the success or the fruit of your closeness to God, not yet the result of your worship of Almighty God.

It is not yet what Bapak hopes for.

Bapak hopes that later on you will be able to demonstrate the result of your worship of God by way of His guidance, so that truly in this part of Germany you will be able to build a building, not luxurious, but fulfilling all our needs. And on the right and left of this building to build houses for Subud members. And not only the Subud members here, but a place where Subud members coming from abroad can stay.

This story will then get around by itself and Subud Germany will become strong and truly have a feeling of social responsibility for the society around them. This is what Bapak hopes for, Brothers and Sisters. Bapak is not belittling you. May all that Bapak hopes for and what you hope for yourselves be achieved by the grace of God Almighty.

In the teaching of Islam, as far as Bapak knows it, they use the terms: Zat, Sifat, Asma and Af'al. Zat means the Power of God which you know, which is the name we give to the existence of the Universe with all it contains.

Sifat are the creatures which have been created there. For example if a man builds a house there will eventually certainly be an occupant for it. If a man makes a stable there will certainly be an animal there, whether a chicken or a dog or a cow.

Then Asma. Asma means to move, to work, to act. In other words, once the house and its occupant have been created, the occupant won't stay still. Of course not. He will work. What is the purpose of the occupant working? It is so that the house will always remain in a good condition and be well looked after. Because if the occupant only sleeps and eats and sleeps and eats and sleeps and eats, in the end, the house will col. lapsed and once it has collapsed, you can't repair it again. This is Asma.

Af'al - the result or the reality.

So a man has to span all four of these frameworks. This is why it is totally wrong if a person believes in God, especially in a religion, and then always only thinks about his worship and not his life in this world. This is totally wrong.

Brothers and Sisters, your worship of God can stop, can be extinguished if you do not move, if you do not act. So it is clear that if something exists, then there is that which moves it and the movement has to be in accordance with that which is moved, so that the final result can be seen as something useful and beneficial. This is what is meant by Zat, Sifat, Asma, Af'al.

For us, Brothers and Sisters, a lot of talk is not necessary. We don't need to look for advice from here because from the latihan kejiwaan, although we can already walk, we are made to walk. We can already shout but we are made to shout... We can already feel but we are made to feel. We can already see but we are made to see.

God, in our latihan, has shown us that we must work. Do not cease worshipping Almighty God in your everyday work, because God has sent down His latihan kejiwaan of Subud so that the closeness of God can be adjusted to your everyday activities till the end of time.

All this we can carry out if outwardly we are strong. So we are trained by God Himself in this world to become people who are healthy, healthy in our jiwa, healthy in our being; healthy in this world and healthy in the next.

This is why Bapak needs to come here to all of you even though Bapak is old, because Bapak needs to make the use and the benefit of the latihan kejiwaan of Subud as clear as possible.

It becomes clear now, that if you truly follow what you receive from God's power, you can produce the Af'al of that which exists in your life. So that when you write, even in that you are guided.

Write what, for example? Take someone close by, Sharif here. Bapak, writing the name of Sharif, will show the happiness or lack of it in his life. Bapak will write the name of Sharif, the full name, Sharif Horthy. ( Bapak writes in the air starting with large letters and ending with small. )

Indeed, for the first time we are beginning to see Sharif happy, but there is still a feeling of uncertainty. "Is it true or not?" But, Alhamdulillah, because Sharif truly practices the latihan kejiwaan, he will achieve it in the end.

Now Bapak will take another real example. Why was prophet Muhammad praised by mankind all over the world and was called a man of heaven? Bapak will now write the name of Muhammad. ( Bapak starts to write and his hand shoots upwards. ) Even with the "M", Bapak cannot reach the top of it, so Bapak knows that Muhammad's jiwa is great and wide.

In the same way, Brothers and Sisters, when Bapak has to sign a helper's card, sometimes Bapak's hand stops in the middle and Bapak cannot write. Bapak cannot proceed and in that moment, Bapak already knows that this helper whose card Bapak is signing has not, in fact, got anywhere yet, but perhaps has to be appointed just because he is needed to open new members in a certain place, or something like that. But if Bapak is asked to sign the card of a helper who truly fulfills the conditions of a helper, then Bapak's signature goes like ,this? ( Bapak signs his signature with a flourish. ) Beautiful! Thus, there is an Af'al in everything that we do.

So supposing you were to claim "I am already high in my latihan kejiwaan of Subud," Bapak replies: "Good. Indeed there is already a picture of it but it has not happened yet." Why does Bapak say that? Because Subud does not own anything here ( in Wendhausen. ) Even your Subud house is rented, so if one day they pull the house down, where will you do your latihan then?

There is no sign yet of Af'al, proving to you the reality of God's love and closeness to all of you. Therefore, Brothers and Sisters, prove it by way of doing enterprise.

It is not that Bapak, or any of you, does not believe in God; on the contrary, it is that you should look for proof.

People praise God: "God Almighty, God Almighty, Allah-u. akbar, Allah-u-akbar ..."

"What is the proof of it? If you praise God is it really true that God is great?"

"Yes."

"And what is the proof"

"Well, they say so!"

"Ah! So it is only they who say so. Then it is only on your lips."

What is needed is the proof, the Af'al. This has truly been demonstrated in the latihan kejiwaan.

You can ask around anywhere: there has never been another latihan where people go shouting, "wow wow wow wow" and make movements; it doesn't exist. They sit stiff like this all day long, or they equate their human being with an idol, with a stone, which can't do anything. Don't do that.

For example, what you performed and demonstrated to Bapak yesterday. ( Entertainment. ) That is nice and Bapak is used to listening to it, but that is imitation isn't it? Isn't everything you are singing just imitation? So little by little put your receiving into it so that gradually it changes, so that you don't just go on imitating all of your life. If you were a bird you would be a Myna bird!

"Good morning!"

"Do you understand what is meant by 'Good Morning!?'

"Good morning!"

The bird doesn't understand. He can say "Good morning" simply because he is used to it ( not because he knows what it means. )

In the latihan kejiwaan we are trained to be people who do not imitate, people who can dig up their own original individuality.

Brothers and Sisters if Bapak continues then there will be no end to it, so Bapak will stop here. Bapak thanks all of you for your willingness to attend this meeting and Bapak will leave to you whatever will follow.
